Cabbage seedlings

At Eumundi Herb Farm we grow our cabbage with the same care and love we give all our plants. Planted in rich, composted soil under the warm Queensland sun, our cabbage seedlings thrive with natural watering and no harsh chemicals.
Cabbage is a reliable and productive cool-season crop that grows beautifully in our subtropical climate when planted at the right time. With a bit of care, you’ll harvest crisp, sweet heads perfect for coleslaw, stir-fries, sauerkraut, or roasting.
Timing & Planting — In the Eumundi area, the best windows are autumn through winter (March to June) for a winter-spring harvest, and again in late winter to early spring (August to September) for an early summer crop.
Sun & Soil — Choose a spot with full sun in cooler months and light afternoon shade during warmer periods to prevent bolting. Cabbage thrives in rich, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Add compost and well-rotted manure before planting. Good drainage helps avoid root issues in our humid conditions.
Watering — Keep the soil consistently moist – cabbage is thirsty and uneven watering can cause splitting or small, loose heads. Water deeply at the base in the morning and mulch generously with straw or sugar cane mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Feeding — Cabbage is a heavy feeder. Apply a balanced organic fertiliser or liquid seaweed every 3–4 weeks. Side-dress with compost midway through growth. Avoid excess nitrogen once heads start forming to encourage tight, firm curds rather than lots of leaves.
Harvesting — Cut the head when it feels firm and solid, usually 70–120 days from transplanting depending on variety. Harvest in the cool of the morning. If you leave the stump in the ground and cut a cross in the top, smaller secondary heads may form.
Sold in 10mm pots. Pick up only. Address in Eumundi will be supplied with confirmation of order.
